Here it is again: what I hate and what really drives me mad, is happening AGAIN! I can’t stand it any more! It’s really unfair, it’s not right, it’s not the way things should be!
There come times in our lives when we are really sick and tired of things or people in our lives: we get irritated, we get angry, we feel really shaken on the inside and we don’t know what to do but we know it’s wrong and we need to do something about it.
In those times it’s crucial who your friends are.
There are two types of people in the world: the majority of people who give advice out of ‘common sense’, ‘you have no choice’ and ‘that’s the way things are done around here’. They simply tell you: ‘No problem, you’ll learn to live with it. Everyone does, we all have settled for it. Or you think you are any different? Let’s go have a drink and forget all about this. You’ll feel better tomorrow.’ And you give them your arm, they give you the anesthetic shot and you feel numb… like all the rest. You comply. You feel miserable but, yes, who are you to dare to be different? Since everyone feels like that and they live with it, you’ll need to learn too… But ‘tomorrow’ you don’t feel better. You feel part of you has died. You have betrayed your own self… And you hate yourself for doing nothing. And it seems that you hate the buddies who gave you the anesthetic… But, hey, you are just like all the rest, so it’s OK to be a zombie, half-alive and barely breathing… And you mingle with the grey cloud of miserable people who simply drag along in life. And you find it more and more difficult to breathe… The walking dead…
But then there are those few other friends, a rare breed, the ‘crazy’ guys who are always different. They stick out and you love being with them because they are fun, they are interesting, they always have stories, they live a life… Many people call them names and say that they are really out of their minds. But you know that they live outside the crowd, outside the ordinary. You go to them when you feel challenged and they’ll never tell you: ‘Live like the rest, do like the rest, die like the rest.’ They’d rather say: ‘I understand, it’s time for you to change. Every change is hard and no one likes it. But it’s the normal process of growth. Your time has come. What would you rather do to change your situation? Are you desperate enough to act? Let’s talk! And let’s look for ways out! THERE’S ALWAYS A WAY OUT!’
And they stir that feeling on the inside even more until it shakes you real deep and gets you out of complacency and mediocrity. You start looking for ways, looking for the change that’s inevitable. They don’t tell you WHAT to do, they simply tell you: DO SOMETHING! And when you really do, there it is! There’s FREEDOM! You can breathe, you are alive and you have a life! You respect yourself and, by the way, it seems that others do, too. But you don’t really care about what they think anyway. You have become a PERSON and not merely a number on the list of average statistics. You have moved a step further into your DESTINY because YOU HAVE MADE YOUR OWN CHOICES… You are no longer a victim of circumstances or people. You life counts: at least to you.
Isn’t that a life worth living?
Where does it really itch? What gets you real mad and you don’t know what to do about it? Well, DO SOMETHING! Don’t draw back, don’t fall into holding back. Step up and DARE TO LOOK FOR ANSWERS, for solutions! You’ve got only one life, do live it! In your way, not like all the rest!
